JANUVIA® May Help Lower Your Blood Sugar (A1C)
What is A1C?
A1C is a blood test that shows the average amount of sugar (glucose) in your blood over the past 2 to 3 months, letting you know how well your blood sugar is being controlled over time.
For many adults with diabetes, the American Diabetes Association recommends an A1C goal of less than 7%. Your health care team may suggest a different A1C goal. Some people might need a higher or lower A1C goal. Be sure to talk to your doctor about what A1C goal is right for you.
Are You Already on Metformin, but Not at Goal?
A clinical study was done between 2 groups of patients. One group took JANUVIA with metformin. The other group took metformin by itself. The group taking JANUVIA and metformin had more than twice as many patients reach an A1C goal of less than 7%.
If you’re taking metformin and you’re not at goal, talk to your doctor for more information.
